How to plant Qinye fig

How to plant Qinye fig

Planting preparation

Matrix

After breaking up the peat soil, add water and stir it. Remember to stir it evenly, and then wait for planting. For a 12 cm pot, use about 300 ml of peat moss per pot.

Basin

Small potted plants generally choose flower pots with a diameter of 12 cm. When planting, you can put about 2 cm of substrate at the bottom of the pot. Also, don't forget to make a small hole for drainage. Then after everything is prepared, move the seedlings into the pot. Be careful not to plant too deep. Choose slightly acidic soil and fill the pot to 90% full, with moderate tightness.

Planting environment of fiddle-leaf fig: Fiddle-leaf fig prefers an environment with sufficient light. If the light is too weak, it is not conducive to the growth of the plant. However, it is necessary to avoid strong direct sunlight in summer, otherwise the leaves will lose their luster or even burn the leaves. In winter, the light can be increased appropriately. Ficus microcarpa grows well under bright diffuse light, and it is best to receive about 4 hours of light a day.

temperature

The most suitable temperature for fiddle-leaf fig is 25℃-35℃. Its cold resistance is relatively weak, and it is best to keep the temperature above 5℃ in winter to ensure its safe wintering.

humidity

The humidity requirement of fiddle-leaf fig is not very strict, as long as it is kept above 60%.

Watering

Ficus microcarpa likes a humid environment and has relatively high requirements for water. Follow the principle of watering when the soil is dry and then watering when it is wet. Wait until the soil in the pot is completely dry before watering, and water it thoroughly. In spring and summer, the plant needs a lot of water and the soil should be kept moist. However, do not water it too much when it is in a low temperature environment for a long time, otherwise it will easily lead to the death of the plant.

Fertilization

When fiddle-leaf fig is first planted, the amount of fertilizer required is not very large. You can use Hua Duo Duo 20-20-20 diluted 1000 times for watering. Later, as the plant grows up, the leaves will be very large and the amount of fertilizer required will also increase. Therefore, liquid fertilizer should be applied once every one or two weeks during the growing season to ensure its healthy growth. Fertilization is generally stopped in winter.

The above is all about the planting method of fiddle-leaf fig. I hope it will be helpful to flower lovers.
