How to plant bulbous begonias and what soil to use

1. Prepare the soil

When planting, choose slightly acidic soil, with a pH value between 5.5-6.2, and ensure that it is loose and breathable. You can mix perlite, peat soil and vermiculite yourself. Such a soil environment is more conducive to the growth of tubers in the later stage. Or you can buy special soil from a flower shop, which is more worry-free. Before using the self-prepared product, expose it to the sun for disinfection, or disinfect it with disinfectant.

2. Select tubers

When planting, choose tubers that are uniform in size and not infected by pests and diseases. These will have stronger germination capabilities, a higher survival rate after planting, and will also facilitate subsequent management. If there are wounds on the tubers, they must be disinfected and dried in the shade before planting to avoid wound infection.

3. Planting in the soil

After preparing the soil and selecting the tubers, you can plant them in the soil. First put a small amount of soil in the flowerpot, then put the tuber in and be careful to cover it with soil. Be careful not to bury the soil too deep. The surface of the tuber should be exposed to the substrate. Otherwise, it will easily rot over time, which will affect germination and rooting.

4. Post-maintenance

After planting, don't rush to expose it to the sun or water it excessively. It should be placed in a warm, ventilated and dark place to allow it to slow down for a while, and it will soon sprout and take root. The survival rate of planting in this way is relatively high.
