How to grow blue mustard

Temperature and light

Blue mustard prefers a growing environment with plenty of sunlight and a cool climate. Maintaining a low temperature can help it form a good plant shape. Generally, it grows better in an environment with full sunlight to slightly shaded conditions, but in the hot summer, it needs appropriate shade and good ventilation.

Water and fertilizer

Since blue mustard is a dwarf plant with hairy branches and leaves, you should be careful to avoid contaminating the leaves when watering and fertilizing, and wipe off any remaining water and fertilizer on the leaves in time, otherwise it will easily cause the branches and leaves to rot.

soil

A medium with good drainage, looseness and breathability is preferred.

Things to note when growing blue mustard

When the management environment conditions are not so ideal, it is best to spray dwarfing agent 1 or 2 times, which can prevent blue mustard from growing too tall and control the plant shape.

Generally, blue mustard has no serious pest or disease problems. Note that during the cultivation of blue mustard, a reasonable spacing between rows and plants must be maintained to avoid crowding that affects the plant shape and causes diseases and pests.

Dead flowers and stems should be removed promptly to facilitate more abundant flowering in the second season. Blue mustard blooms luxuriantly in the spring of the second year, and has a good ornamental effect. At this time, it is suitable to be matched with other flowers and plants that bloom at the same time, such as oxeye daisy, which is a good choice.
