1. Loosen the soil

After all, summer is the peak season for the growth of water spinach. When planting in dry land in summer, water spinach needs to be watered every day to keep it moist. The more water it absorbs, the better it will grow and maintain a fresh and tender state. Regardless of whether it is the main stem that grows in the early stage or multiple branches that grow together after it grows lushly, it is recommended to water it every day, unless it rains or is cloudy, then there is no need to water it every day.

3. Topdressing

Water spinach needs more nitrogen fertilizer and water to grow. It can grow well if it is applied with simple liquid fertilizers containing high water content such as diluted manure water and urine water. Such fertilizers are often applied in rural areas. It is recommended to apply top dressing after each harvest to allow the vegetables to better absorb nutrients and grow. In midsummer, water spinach grows new branches and leaves quickly, so it is necessary to apply top dressing early to promote growth. For example, if it is harvested in the morning, fertilizer should be applied in the evening of the same day, and it can be picked after a week. Don't be too single when applying fertilizer. Apply decomposed chicken manure, pig manure and other nutrient-rich farmyard manure non-liquid fertilizers from time to time.

4. Pick and keep some axillary buds

When picking the tender stems and leaves of water spinach to eat, you must retain some of them, that is, leave some axillary buds and small growing branches each time to allow further growth. In this way, you can harvest fresh stems and leaves to eat after a week or 10 days. The interval is short and it is very cost-effective.

5. Insect prevention

Water spinach has strong adaptability, likes water and is drought-resistant, with relatively few insect pests, so it is very worry-free to manage in the summer. However, there are many insects flying around in the vegetable fields in summer. If water spinach is planted in relatively sticky soil, watered every day, and has a certain humidity, and the water spinach grows lushly, it is not surprising to see insects flying around.
