Difference Between Snapdragon and Violet

1. Flower differences

Snapdragon: Normally, its flowering period is from March to June, the length of the petals is about 3 cm to 15 cm, and the length of the pedicels is about 5 mm to 7 mm;

Violet: Its flowering period is from April to May, which is one month later than snapdragon. The length of the petals is about 12 mm and the length of the pedicel is about 1.5 mm. This is very different from the flowers of snapdragon. It is much smaller than the flowers of snapdragon. Therefore, it is easy to distinguish these two plants if they are both in bloom.

2. Difference between branches and stems

Snapdragon: Its branches are generally at the junction of the stem and the root, and the base of the stem sometimes appears woody;

Violet: Its branches are more spread throughout the plant, unlike snapdragons, and all branches appear woody at the base.

3. Height difference

Snapdragons can grow up to 80 cm tall, while violets can only grow up to 60 cm tall.

4. Leaf differences

Snapdragon: Its leaves are between 2 cm and 6 cm long, with flat edges, and most of the leaves are lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate;

Violet: The total length of its leaves including petioles is about 6 cm to 14 cm, and the leaf width is between 1.2 cm and 2.5 cm, which is much larger than that of snapdragon. Its leaves are spoon-shaped or oblong to oblanceolate, which is very different from snapdragon. Its edges are both flat and wavy, unlike the snapdragon whose leaf edges are all flat.
