How to identify rhubarb

1. Appearance

Rhubarb is a perennial herb with large and thick roots that are yellow in color. The stem is thick and upright, about 1 meter high and green-purple in color.

2. Blades

The leaves of Rhubarb are ovate or ovate-oblong, about 15-30 cm long and 12-20 cm wide, with a relatively rounded tip and a cordate base. The entire margin, the stem leaves are alternate, ovate-lanceolate, gradually becoming smaller from bottom to top and becoming bracts.

3. Flowers

Rhubarb has a panicle inflorescence with small flowers that are purple-green to green in color and are bisexual.

4. Fruit

The fruit of the rhubarb plant is oval in shape, dark brown in color, and contains one seed. The flowering and fruiting periods are from May to July.

5. Function

The roots and leaves of Rhubarb can be used as medicine, and have the effects of stopping bleeding, relieving constipation, removing blood stasis, clearing away heat and detoxifying, and killing insects.
