The difference between Mikania micrantha and chamomile

The difference between Mikania micrantha and chamomile

1. Leaf Difference

The leaves in the middle of Mikania micrantha are triangular-ovate or ovate, 4 to 13 cm long, about 2 to 9 cm wide, with a heart-shaped base. The tip of the leaves gradually becomes sharp, and the edges have several coarse teeth or shallow wavy serrations. Both sides of the leaves are glabrous.

The leaves in the middle of chamomile are ovate, elliptical-ovate or broadly ovate, about 2 to 5 cm long and about 1.5 to 4.5 cm wide. The leaves are pinnately divided twice or completely divided once. The uppermost leaves or the leaves at the bottom of the inflorescence are pinnately divided, 3-lobed or unlobed. The two sides of the leaves are the same color and are sparsely covered with fine hairs.

2. Flower Differences

Mikania micrantha has numerous capitula, which are often arranged in compound umbels at the branch ends. The peduncle gradually becomes slender. The capitula is 4.5 to 6 mm long and contains small flowers with white corollas.

Chamomile inflorescence head, diameter of 10 to 15 mm, usually mostly arranged in loose or slightly dense umbels at the top of the stems and branches, petals ovate, oblong or oblanceolate, rounded apex, white or light brown membranous, ligulate flowers yellow, ligules elliptical 5 to 7.5 mm long. Flowers white or yellow-brown.
