Things to note when repotting a banyan tree

Things to note when repotting a banyan tree

1. Water thoroughly before repotting

Two days before repotting the banyan bonsai, first water it thoroughly. That is to say, water as much as possible without water accumulation. This will allow the pot and soil to be better separated, avoiding damage to the roots when pulling out the banyan tree.

2. Keep the root soil

After pulling out, clean the potting soil, remove some of the excess soil without spraying the roots, and pay attention to the condition of the roots. If there are rotten roots or roots, this part should be cut off and disinfected with potassium permanganate.

3. Preparation of new pot and new soil

When choosing a new pot, the first thing to consider is the size of the banyan tree. The pot should not be too small, as this will hinder growth, but it should not be too large either, as a large pot will cause the banyan tree to have difficulty absorbing water and the roots to grow downwards. After choosing a good pot, first cover the bottom with broken tiles, then spread river sand on it, and then plant the plant in, so as to enhance its drainage and air permeability. After covering with soil, pat the pot to make it in closer contact.

4. Water the pots in time

Do not water the plants immediately after potting them. It is best to wait half a day before watering them, and water them thoroughly at once. In addition, if the roots are injured, watering should be delayed for 1-2 days to avoid infection. After repotting, place the banyan tree in a cool place, away from direct sunlight. And add water for the second time after the soil becomes dry, and then you can maintain it normally.
