1. LightingThe light requirements of the Chinese lantern are not high. It can be kept alive and well in bright diffuse light conditions indoors. However, the light in winter is warm and soft, and it can be exposed to direct sunlight, which is beneficial for the plant to accumulate nutrients and bloom more. 2. TemperatureThe lotus plant likes warmth and is afraid of cold. In winter, the maintenance temperature must be kept above 15℃ to prevent the plant from being frozen to death. When the temperature is low, the lotus plant will enter a dormant state, and its growth rate will slow down or even stop growing. At this time, you must control the water. 3. WateringThe lotus likes moisture and is afraid of waterlogging. In addition to controlling water appropriately when the temperature is low in winter, during the growing period of the plant, you must also wait until the soil in the pot is relatively dry before watering. The soil cannot be kept wet all the time, so as to avoid the plant's roots being suffocated by water, causing the flowers and leaves to wilt, or even root rot and death from waterlogging. 4. HumidityThe cardinal lantern likes moisture. In fact, it likes a high-humidity environment, such as indoor heating in summer or winter. Under well-ventilated conditions, you can frequently spray water on the leaves and surrounding areas of the plant, but do not spray water when it is blooming to avoid the flowers of the cardinal lantern from withering. 5. FertilizationWhen fertilizing the water lily, apply thin fertilizers frequently. During the growth period of the plant, apply fertilizers with a balanced nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content. Before flowering, switch to phosphorus and potassium fertilizers once every half a month until the water lily blooms. Do not fertilize in winter when the temperature is low. 6. PruningThe flowering period of the Chinese lantern is long, and it can bloom for 3-5 months at a time. After the flowers of the plant fade, cut off the flower arrows in time to reduce nutrient consumption, control water appropriately, ventilate more, and apply thin fertilizers frequently to promote it to bloom again. |
