How to grow African violets on the balcony and what to pay attention to

1. Lighting

The provision of light is of great significance for the flowering of African violets. It is a very important factor. It is more appropriate to keep it on the balcony at home. The light exposure can help it grow and promote later flowering. If it stays in the shade for a long time without sunlight, the branches and leaves will grow too long and the plant may not even bloom. Note that it is afraid of strong light, so provide appropriate shade in the summer to avoid direct sunlight that will cause sunburn on the leaves.

2. Reasonable water supply

Watering is a very important step in the breeding process. It likes a humid environment. It grows vigorously in spring and summer and needs more watering. In autumn and winter, you can reduce watering. When watering, you must control the amount and not give too much water. Just make sure the soil in the pot is thoroughly watered.

3. Apply fertilizer

African violets like fertilizer very much. It should be fertilized once every 10-20 days during the growing period. Fertilizer should mainly be compound fertilizer, and the amount should not be too much. Supplementing phosphorus and potassium fertilizers during the flowering period can make up for the consumption of nutrients. When applying fertilizer, be careful not to apply too much fertilizer to avoid burning the roots.

4. Adjust the temperature

Adjust the temperature reasonably according to the growth conditions. The suitable temperature for growth is around 16-24℃. It cannot withstand high temperatures or cold weather and needs to be adjusted according to the situation.
