Difference Between Tulips and Roses

1. Different varieties

Tulip is a plant belonging to the Liliaceae family and the genus Tulip, native to Türkiye.

Rose is a plant belonging to the Rosaceae family and the genus Rosa. It is native to China, but it is quite different from the common rose.

2. Leaf Difference

The former is a monocotyledonous plant, and the embryo of the seed has one cotyledon. The veins on the surface of the leaves are parallel, which can be seen by observing the veins on the leaves. A plant has 3-5 leaves, which are linear-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate in shape. The leaves are relatively smooth and have white powder on the surface. The small leaves are oval in shape and about 1.5-4.5 cm long.

The latter belongs to a dicotyledonous plant, and its leaves are very different from the former. The surface of the leaves has reticulate veins, which can be used to quickly identify it.

3. Different flowers

The tulip flower grows solitarily at the top. The flower is relatively large and has an upright cup shape. Its color is generally magenta, yellow, or purple. It blooms from March to May every year.

Rose flowers grow solitary in the leaf axils, blooming outwards. The petals are obovate in shape and are generally red or white in color.
