How many years can imported lily bulbs be kept?

Under normal circumstances, lily bulbs can be planted for 5-8 years. However, during the maintenance process, it is necessary to clean the bulbs on the bulbs every two years to prevent the bulbs from becoming too large and deformed.

Planting technology of lily bulbs

1. Bulb processing

Choose high-quality bulbs and trim the poor roots under the bulbs. If there are rotten roots or poor roots, cut them off. You only need to trim the poor roots. Then rinse the trimmed bulbs with water and soak them in 800-1000 times carbendazim solution for half an hour for disinfection.

2. Pot soil selection

When choosing soil, you should choose loose and breathable nutrient soil, and mix some river sand with the nutrient soil. In addition, don't choose a flower pot that is too high, try to use a shorter one. If the flowerpot is too high and the soil is not breathable, the bulbs will easily rot.

3. Planting time

Lily planting can be carried out throughout the year, but the most common periods are March to June or September to November. But lilies planted in spring are easier to manage than in autumn.

4. Planting steps

First fill the flower pot half full with soil. Put the bulb into the flowerpot, allow its roots to stretch naturally, and then continue to fill in soil. About 8 cm of soil is needed, then water it once to help it take root. Then put the flowerpot in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance. The recommended temperature is around 18°C. Generally speaking, lily bulbs will begin to sprout in about a month.

5. Post-planting management

Wait until the lily buds grow to the surface of the soil, then move them to the sun to expose them to sunlight. In addition, lilies like a humid environment, so we have to keep the soil moist, but not too wet. You can use a spray bottle to spray the soil every day and spray it with nutrient solution once a week. In about a month , the lilies will grow buds.

In general, lily bulbs can be maintained for a long time under the right environment. However, in the actual planting process, few people will keep them for 8 years, because the quality of the bulbs will definitely get worse year by year, and the nutrition will become increasingly scarce as time goes by. In addition, lily bulbs are relatively cheap now, so there is no need to pursue long-term maintenance of the bulbs.
