Sowing methodSowing is the main method of propagating asparagus fern. Cultivating seed plantsThe first step in seed propagation of asparagus fern is to cultivate seed plants. Generally, potted plants cannot bloom and bear fruit, so seed plants are mostly planted indoors. Plant the 2-3 year old healthy plants in a slightly shaded place, set up a support, and allow them to climb naturally. Collecting seedsIn spring, when the peel of asparagus fern seeds turns black and soft, they are mature. At this time, they should be picked gradually according to the degree of maturity, the pulp should be rubbed off, washed with clean water, and stored after semi-drying for later use. They can be sown in early April. Seeding substrateThe sowing medium is generally fine sand, and the container is a clay pot or wooden box. Place the seeds on the potting soil at a distance of 2-3 cm, 2-3 seeds in each hole. After sowing, cover with 5 mm of fine sand and cover with glass or plastic film. Keep the temperature at 20-25℃ and spray water frequently to keep the soil moist. BasinSeedlings begin to germinate about 30 days after sowing. When the seedlings are 4-5 cm tall, transplant them for cultivation, and when they are 8-10 cm tall, plant them in pots. After the seedlings grow, choose strong ones for transplanting. With proper maintenance, you can grow them into beautiful bonsai in 1 to 2 years! |
