How to choose saffron bulbs

How to choose saffron bulbs

According to size

Flower shop owners have a professional method for classifying bulbs, and usually divide the bulbs into large, medium and small sizes according to their weight.

Small bulbs generally weigh between 8 grams and 15 grams and can produce 1-2 flowers; medium-sized bulbs weigh between 15 grams and 20 grams and can produce 2-5 flowers; large bulbs have an average weight of more than 20 grams and can produce 3-10 flowers.

Bulbs grown at home will not bloom if they weigh less than 8 grams. If the bulbs you buy are very small, it may take several years for them to bloom. For those of you who have just started planting and whose techniques are not yet mature, you will definitely not even be able to wait for the flowers to bloom, as the bulbs will already have begun to rot!

According to appearance

When choosing bulbs, observe their appearance carefully. If the saffron bulbs are severely impacted during transportation, mold spots will appear on the epidermis. If no disease spots are found when purchasing, the bulbs will easily rot during the planting process.

According to planting time

When purchasing bulbs, you also need to ask about the production area of the bulbs. Bulbs in old production areas have been planted for too long and their antibacterial ability is poor. Home cultivation is easily attacked by pests and diseases. Try to ask the boss about the production area of the bulbs and buy bulbs from new production areas.

Editor's suggestion

When purchasing bulbs, everyone should buy according to their actual needs. Don’t listen to the nonsense of those who sell seed bulbs. In fact, I have been fooled before. It’s like paying tuition fee! I hope everyone will be careful when choosing bulbs!
