Five common mistakes when raising Phalaenopsis orchids

Five common mistakes when raising Phalaenopsis orchids

Too frequent watering

Friends who grow Phalaenopsis are always worried about the lack of water for Phalaenopsis. Regardless of whether the growing medium is dry or not, they water it every day, causing serious root rot.

Temperature is too low

Usually, Phalaenopsis orchids are available in early spring, and after being brought home, they are usually placed in the living room or other places for appreciation. Although the daytime temperature in these places is sufficient, the night temperature is a little low.

On the other hand, most professionally cultivated orchids are grown in well-equipped greenhouses. In comparison, the temperature and humidity at home are slightly insufficient, which often causes the growth of the plants to become increasingly weak. Therefore, sometimes no matter how well you care for orchids, they may not bloom.

Overfertilization

Just apply fertilizer when it’s available, and don’t pay attention to the concentration, thinking that applying fertilizer will make the plant grow faster. It should be noted that Phalaenopsis should be fertilized with thin fertilizers in small amounts and multiple times. Remember not to overdo the tonic, otherwise it will be counterproductive.

Small plants in large pots

I think using a large pot can provide the Phalaenopsis with a comfortable environment and sufficient materials. In fact, after using a large pot, the aquatic plants are not easy to dry out. You must know that Phalaenopsis likes ventilation, and it will feel comfortable if the air flows.

Dried flower bag

Most of the Phalaenopsis orchids nowadays are forced to bloom. After leaving the base, the environment changes and it is easy for them to dry out. At this time, don’t think that they are dry and don’t water them too much. Instead, increase the indoor humidity and control the indoor temperature. The temperature should not be too high. When buying flowers, try to choose those with thick petals.
