How to propagate chrysanthemum

Seed propagation of chrysanthemum

Mesembryanthemum can be propagated by sowing. The main method of sowing and propagation of pine needle chrysanthemum is spring sowing, which can be carried out in April to May, usually in indoor pots.

When propagating mesembryanthemum by sowing, the germination temperature should be kept between 20℃ and 22℃, and the germination will be better. Generally, after sowing, it will be easier for the seedlings to emerge, and they will germinate in about 10 to 20 days.

However, the fruits of Mesembryanthemum are not easy to mature and the seeds are difficult to harvest, so when it comes to reproduction, it is more often propagated by cuttings.

Cutting propagation of Mesembryanthemum

The most common way to propagate Mesembryanthemum is by cuttings, which are usually carried out in spring and autumn.

When propagating Mesembryanthemum by cuttings, you need to choose relatively full branches for cuttings. Generally, you need to cut branches about 5 cm long and retain 3-4 leaves.

The cut cuttings need to be processed first. You can soak them in sugar water or rooting powder to promote rooting. Then insert the cuttings into the prepared sandy soil, maintain a certain rooting temperature, but not too wet. Generally, it will take about a month to take root.

After the cuttings of Mesembryanthemum survive, they can be transplanted into flowerpots. Add sandy soil as culture soil and some decomposed cake fertilizer as base fertilizer. When the seedlings grow to about 20 cm, you can pinch off the top and then carry out reasonable maintenance.
