Boxwood seed sowing method

Boxwood seed sowing time

Boxwood can be sown in spring and autumn, usually in spring from February to May, and also in autumn from August to October. The temperature and humidity at this time are suitable for planting and growth. In addition, boxwood likes to grow in soil with good drainage and good air permeability. Boxwood seeds will bloom 3 months after sowing.

Boxwood seeds sowing in summer

Boxwood seeds can be sown in summer, but the best sowing time is in spring and autumn. Sowing in these two seasons can effectively increase the germination rate of seeds, allowing the boxwood seeds to grow well after germination.

Boxwood seed sowing method

Boxwood seeds are generally sown in spring, preferably in early to mid-April. They can be sown in ridges or in cropping. When sowing in ridges, the ridge spacing is 70-80 cm and the width is 40-50 cm. After sowing, cover with 1.5-2 cm of soil. You can also sow in cropping without ridges, with a row spacing of 60-70 cm. After sowing, compact the soil so that the seeds are closely combined with the soil, and cover with film if conditions permit.

Boxwood Seed Sowing Management

1. Boxwood seeds need to be processed before sowing, which can increase its germination rate and achieve better planting results. There are many treatment methods, such as treating seeds with gibberellin, soaking seeds in warm water, removing the seed skin, etc. These treatment methods are all to increase its germination rate.

2. After boxwood is sown, it will germinate in about half a month, and generally will not exceed one month. Of course, this also needs to take into account external factors and some man-made reasons, and understand the detailed situation.
