Yellow-eared turtle breeding method

Yellow-eared turtle breeding method

The yellow-eared slider is a very popular pet. It is lively, cute, docile and easy to raise. Many people keep it at home. Here is an introduction to the breeding methods of yellow-eared turtles.

1. Feeding space

Yellow-eared sliders have relatively high requirements for space, and the size of the space will directly affect their body shape, so breeders should pay attention to raising them in an appropriate amount of space to avoid insufficient space affecting their body shape.

2. Sunbathing platform

Yellow-eared sliders do most of their activities in water. But don't keep them in water all the time. It is best to place a sunbathing platform in the water for them to climb up to rest and bask in the sun. Frequent sun exposure will promote further digestion and speed up nutrient absorption. If there is no sunbathing platform, they may die, so more attention should be paid.

3. Water depth matters

The water depth for yellow-eared turtles should be between 20-25 cm to ensure that they can swim freely in the water and avoid accidents. At the same time, water that is too shallow will harm the yellow-eared turtle, so the choice of water depth is very important.

4. Suitable temperature

The habitat of yellow-eared turtles should maintain suitable temperature and water quality, which is very important for promoting their growth and reproduction. The optimum growth temperature for yellow-eared sliders is 24-28℃.

5. Feeding management

When feeding yellow-eared turtles, breeders can feed them turtle food, small fish, shrimps, mealworms and other foods. Small fish and shrimps should be cut into small pieces before feeding. They can be fed with tweezers. The appropriate amount of food should be fed according to different seasons. The amount should be reduced appropriately when the temperature drops. Except for the first year's turtle hatchlings , it is recommended to let the turtles hibernate normally.

6. Change water quality

It is best to keep the yellow-eared turtle quiet, change the water frequently, dechlorinate, and keep the water clean. Keep the pond water clean and maintain good hygiene in the breeding pond to prevent the turtles from getting sick.
