Amaranth is native to China and is widely cultivated in the Yangtze River Basin. This vegetable is grown in many places because of its strong resistance, easy growth, heat-loving, drought-resistant, moisture-resistant, fewer diseases and pests, and high nutritional value. So, how many days does it take for Amaranth to germinate? Let’s take a look below. 1. How many days does it take for Amaranth to sprout? The germination time of Amaranth is generally around 3-12 days, which is affected by factors such as temperature, humidity, and seed treatment. Under the right conditions, amaranth seeds usually take 5 to 10 days to germinate. If the temperature, humidity and light conditions are perfect, the seeds may sprout in just 3 to 6 days. 2. Amaranth planting technology and methods 1. Planting time The growth period of Amaranth is not long, usually about forty days. Amaranth cannot tolerate frost, so it can be planted from spring to autumn. However, the best time to plant amaranth is in spring, with February to April being more suitable. After sowing, it has a suitable growth environment and climate temperature, so that it can survive better and grow vigorously. 2. Seed soaking and germination Amaranth seeds need to be soaked and germinated. Soak them in cold water, rub the seeds 3 to 5 times, soak for about 24 hours, take out and drain the water, wrap the seeds in moist gauze, and place them in a place with a temperature of 15-20 degrees for germination. After the seeds turn white, you can start sowing. 3. Land preparation and fertilization Choose a field with relatively flat terrain, convenient irrigation, loose and fertile soil, and apply an appropriate amount of decomposed organic fertilizer , about 500 kilograms of decomposed fertilizer per acre of land. Then deep plow it and stir the fertilizer into the soil to make it more fertile and provide nutrients for amaranth seeds. After deep plowing, rake the soil flat and fine. 4. Planting seeds When sowing, amaranth seeds need to be mixed with fine sand and then sown because its seeds are relatively small. After sowing, cover the surface of the seeds with a thin layer of soil, compact it, and then water the soil to soak it so that the amaranth seeds have enough water to grow. 5. Field management The first top dressing needs to be done when the seedlings have 2-3 leaves, and the second top dressing needs to be done half a month later. After that, top dressing needs to be done after each harvest. Watering should be done after each top dressing, and the field should always be kept moist. 6. Harvest When Amaranth enters the middle stage of growth, the plant reaches a height of 15 to 20 cm, the roots grow lushly, and the leaves are emerald green, then it can be harvested for the first time. When picking leaves, 2 to 3 leaves should be retained. After picking, the leaf bridge will stretch out new leaves and grow normally, then the second picking can be carried out, with an interval of 15 to 20 days. That’s it |
