Soil selectionIn order to increase the survival rate of freesia, the selection of soil is very important. Freesia prefers fertile soil rich in nutrients and has good drainage performance. We can choose sandy soil or prepare suitable soil ourselves, such as mixing culture soil with 20% to 50% humus soil. Before planting freesia bulbs, the cultivated soil needs to be disinfected first to prevent pathogens in the soil from infecting the plants. Selection of bulbsWe must choose healthy and high-quality bulbs, and not those that are infected with bacteria or have been infested by insects, as this will affect the development of freesia. Just choose bulbs of normal size. Planting methodAfter we prepare the soil and bulbs, we can start planting. The depth of the top of the bulb about one to two centimeters from the soil surface is most suitable and optimal for the growth and germination of freesia bulbs. Water and fertilizer management after plantingSuitable temperature, light, water and fertilizer are all conducive to the germination of freesia bulbs. We must keep the soil in the flowerpot moist, not let the soil become dry, and no water can be left in the pot. Generally speaking, a temperature of 8°C-13°C can cause flower bud differentiation, and if you want the flower buds to develop, the room temperature needs to be kept between 13°C-18°C. If the sunshine time is less, it will promote the differentiation of freesia flower buds. If the sunshine time is longer, it will promote the development of flower buds. Therefore, the lighting time should be controlled according to the growth conditions of freesia. During the growth period, organic fertilizer or compound fertilizer can be applied once every two weeks, which can make freesia grow stronger. |
