Water and fertilizer management methods for wintersweet

Winter plum needs proper watering

Wintersweet is relatively drought-resistant and is afraid of waterlogging, so when growing it, water it in moderation.

Generally, wintersweets need to be placed in a relatively dry environment, and when watering, the principle of not watering unless the soil is dry, and watering thoroughly when the soil is dry should be followed. In spring, wintersweet enters a period of vigorous growth. At this time, the branches can be pruned short according to growth needs, and intermittent watering can be started until late June, when the flower buds are differentiated and normal watering can be carried out. If you find that the wintersweet plants are obviously wilting at this time, you can spray some water appropriately.

In autumn, reduce watering and keep the soil slightly moist. When the wintersweet blooms, you should water it appropriately to avoid different flowering times and affecting the viewing experience.

Wintersweet needs reasonable fertilization

Wintersweet is a fertilizer-loving plant and needs to be fertilized at the right time and in the right amount. This will enable it to grow vigorously and promote the differentiation of flower buds, allowing it to bloom more.

Generally, leaf expansion fertilizer needs to be applied once in spring. In May and June, decomposed fertilizer water can be applied once each time. The high temperature period in summer is the main period for the differentiation of flower buds of wintersweet, and the root growth is relatively vigorous. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be sprayed on the roots several times to promote the differentiation of flower buds. In autumn, you can apply decomposed liquid fertilizer again to accelerate the growth of flower buds. When the flowering period begins in winter, you can apply fertilizers mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, which can encourage more flowering.
