How to care for red sage so that it can bloom many times

The principle of multiple flowering of Salvia splendens

Although the flowering time of impatiens may vary depending on the time of planting, some measures can be taken to make it bloom multiple times. The main principle is to adopt the method of pruning after flowering and to strengthen water and fertilizer management, so that the axillary buds of the impatiens can become flower buds, and then grow buds and bloom. After that, as long as you maintain the right temperature and light, you can generally achieve multiple flowerings a year.

How to make red sage bloom multiple times a year

In November, you can move the more vigorously growing red bean plants to a well-lit area indoors, and then prune them drastically, leaving only some of the leaves. Then apply top dressing once every 7 days to promote the axillary buds between the leaf axils to grow into new shoots.

In mid-December to early January, you can carry out cuttings. Cut the new branches as cuttings, keep the top two leaves, and remove the rest, and then carry out cuttings. The cuttings of the salvia can take root in about 20 days under the conditions of 15℃-25℃. The tips can be pinched in early February so that the salvia can grow more new branches. You can pinch the tops again in March.

After that, reasonable water and fertilizer management and spraying of potassium dihydrogen phosphate can promote the flowering of the impatiens in April and the flowers to flourish. After the flowers fall in May, you can start pruning, and the pruning should be vigorous. Then apply fertilizer every 10 days or so, and it will bloom again in late June to mid-July.

In August, if you prune again and manage water and fertilizer well, the salvia can enter its peak flowering period during the National Day. After the flowers wither in early October, repeat the above method again, and the salvia can bloom in mid-November.

In this way, the salvia can bloom many times a year.
