How to repot ginseng ficus bonsai

How to repot ginseng ficus bonsai

Repotting time

The ginseng fig needs to be repotted. Basically, as the ginseng fig plant grows, we need to repot it, because not repotting it may limit its continued growth. Generally, after the ginseng fig has grown for about 2-3 years, the original potting soil is no longer suitable, so it is best to repot it every 2 years. This will meet its growth needs. The time for repotting is generally in spring when the temperature is relatively high.

How to operate

First, you need to repot the ginseng fig. Take it out of the pot with the soil, then remove one-third or two-thirds of the old soil in the lower part, and then trim the roots, cutting off the old roots and the roots that are too long.

Then you need to replace the potting soil. Since it is a bonsai viewing, when choosing a flowerpot, you should choose one that is coordinated with the plant. Generally, a plain rectangular or round flowerpot will be sufficient. The best material is a purple clay pot, but a ceramic pot or an earthen pot is also acceptable. The soil should be loose and fertile, with good permeability and water retention, and a little decomposed organic fertilizer can be added.

The last step is to pot it. Now make a drainage layer in the flowerpot, then put soil in it, then put the ginseng fig into the pot and fill it with soil.

Precautions

When repotting the ginseng fig, the branches and leaves need to be properly pruned to keep the plant shape and allow it to recover faster.

Also, after repotting the ginseng fig, water it thoroughly and then place it in a sunny place for maintenance, being careful not to expose it to too strong light.
