She saved the dying lucky bamboo with just a little trick. How did she do it?

The bottle of lucky bamboo in the picture above has been grown for one year. The branches have grown a lot taller, but there are always yellowing and drooping leaves, and the leaves don’t look lively at all! What should I do?

Observe the root system

If lucky bamboo takes root normally and grows in a hydroponic bottle for 1-2 years, the root system will show some signs of aging, so its absorption capacity will be weakened and it will be unable to supply nutrients to the plant, resulting in yellow leaves, wilting and other phenomena. Therefore, if we find that the roots in the hydroponic bottle are all yellow, black, and seriously aged, we must clean out these roots.

Cut off the root system

For lucky bamboo that has been grown for more than one year, we should not only cut off some of the aging roots, but also cut off all the roots at the bottom.

After taking the lucky bamboo out of the water, use scissors to cut off all the roots at the bottom.

Bottom Bevel

After cutting off all the roots of the lucky bamboo, you can use a sharp knife to cut the incision diagonally into a horseshoe shape to facilitate water absorption.

Remove yellow leaves

Pick off all the yellow leaves of lucky bamboo to avoid wasting nutrients.

Cleaning the Hydroponic Bottle

Pour out all the water in the original hydroponic bottle, clean the bottle wall carefully, and pour in clean water after cleaning. Don't pour too much water, about 1/3 of the entire bottle body is enough.

Add lucky bamboo

Insert the obliquely cut lucky bamboo into a clean hydroponic bottle and place it in a well-lit and ventilated place.

Maintenance before root growth

Before the lucky bamboo grows roots, change the water in the hydroponic bottle every 2-3 days and spray water on the leaves twice a day.

Maintenance after root growth

In this season, lucky bamboo will grow white roots in about 7-15 days. After rooting, there is no need to change the water so frequently. You only need to add water when the water level in the hydroponic bottle is less than 1/3.

How to fertilize

After the roots have grown for 2 months, we can slowly fertilize the lucky bamboo. The fertilizer must not be too concentrated. Just put 1-2 grains of slow-release fertilizer every month.

Reasons for root cutting

It is best to cut the roots of lucky bamboo every year to renew the root system. The new root system has a stronger absorption capacity and can continuously supply nutrients to the plant, reducing the occurrence of yellow leaves!
