How to water spoon lip orchid

How to water spoon lip orchid

1. About the proportion and frequency of watering

The spoon-lip orchid needs to be 80% wet and 20% dry. The principle of watering is that you should water some water when you see it is dry, stop immediately when you see it is wet, and it should be slightly drier. Watering must be thorough. It is absolutely not allowed to stop before watering is thorough. Don't forget to water the orchid in summer, because lack of water will cause the orchid to grow poorly. How often should you water? It depends on the planting materials of orchids, which are referred to as planting materials. Granular materials have good hydrophobicity, such as brick particles, volcanic rocks, pumice stones, etc., and only need to be poured once a day. Planting materials that absorb water strongly, such as pond mud, humus soil, etc., need to be watered every two to three days.

2. About the selection of water quality and watering time

When watering, you should choose relatively clean, uncontaminated, weakly acidic water with a pH value of above 5.5 and below 6.5. Otherwise, the orchid will be prone to root rot, black spots on the leaves, plant corruption, etc. Normal watering should be arranged in the early morning or evening. Watering must not be arranged at noon, and watering should not be done directly from the top.

3. Correct watering method

Generally, the spraying method is used, which can increase the humidity of the air and wash away the dust accumulated on the leaves. However, if there are flowers in full bloom or there is some fuzz on the leaves, this method is not suitable. The entire flower pot should be placed in a large container. Remember that the water must not flood the mouth of the pot. Use the holes at the bottom of the pot to let the water seep in, so that the soil in the pot can be moistened.

4. Things to pay attention to when watering for the first time

After the orchid is planted, it needs some rooting water for the first time. This time, the water must be poured thoroughly and sufficiently. After potting normally, you need to water it again after watering it once, a total of two waterings are required. After watering for the first time and seeing water flowing out of the round hole at the bottom of the pot, continue watering for the second time.
