How to climb climbing roses

How to climb climbing roses

1. Proper pruning

1. Prune flowering branches

When pruning it, if you find that its branches have already bloomed, you need to pay attention. We can cut off the stronger flowering branches and leave 2 to 3 buds on them, which will help it bloom again.

2. Prune non-flowering branches

For those branches that have not bloomed, when we prune, we usually cut off the top section of the branch. If there are many flowering branches on the top, we must prune on the main trunk and cut off all its flower branches.

3. Prune old branches

For those old branches that have grown for more than 2 years, new branches will grow on them. If we want to prune them, we need to cut off all the old branches except the growth points of the new branches. After pruning in this way, the new branches will replace the old branches, become the main trunk, and continue to grow.

2. Traction

1. Choose a support

If you want it to climb, you must pull it, and if you pull it, you have to choose the right support, that is, the bracket to make the shape. This way it can become a flower wall or flower column in the future. If you want to tie the trolley up to a fence or mesh, no support is needed. Other places are generally needed, such as on the wall. In addition, because its covering ability is very strong, you only need to choose some simple supports.

2. Plan the traction direction

When planning the direction of its climbing, it is generally necessary to choose some longer branches on the top and short branches on the bottom, and then keep the branches balanced on the left and right. When pulling, try to follow the direction of its growth, so that the effect will be better.

3. Adjust the overall layout

After the traction direction is selected and fixed, we can observe its overall layout and the position of each branch to see if the distance between them is appropriate. If not, we need to loosen and readjust them. Sometimes we have to repeat this process several times until we are satisfied. Only then will the climbing be smoother.
