How to water bird's tongue orchid

How to water bird's tongue orchid

1. Time:

Because the most suitable temperature for the normal growth of bird's tongue orchid is 15-30℃, and the temperature changes greatly throughout the year, the bird's tongue orchid needs to be watered at different time periods. Generally, the best time to water in spring and autumn is around ten in the morning and after four in the afternoon. In summer, due to the hot weather, we can water in the morning and afternoon. Especially note that you must not water at noon when the temperature is highest and the sun is the strongest. In winter, you can water at noon. If the soil temperature differs from the water temperature by more than 6°C, we can slightly heat the water to about 15°C. Generally, in spring and autumn, watering once one to two days is enough. In summer, it is best to water it every day, but not in winter. Due to the cold weather, in order to minimize the damage to the bird's tongue orchid, it is only necessary to water it about twice a week, as long as it is kept moist.

2. Watering methods at different times:

Bird's tongue orchid likes moisture the most, but we must never water it in small amounts frequently for the sake of convenience, causing it to soak in water. This is harmful to the bird's tongue orchid. The most correct way to water is to water in small amounts multiple times and repeatedly. Water thoroughly, not half-dry. After planting the bird's tongue orchid, the first watering is called "rooting water". This watering must be thorough enough. After potting, it needs to be watered twice in a row. The first time, water until the water flows out from the holes at the bottom of the pot, and then water again.

3. Specific operations:

Generally, a watering can is used for spraying, which can allow the water to penetrate into the soil better and prevent too much water. It can wash away the dust on the surface of the bird's tongue orchid. Do not spray it when it is blooming.

4. Watering of different soils:

We all know that different soils have different absorption and requirements for water, so the frequency of watering for different soils is also different. Planting materials such as volcanic rocks and red brick particles must be watered more frequently than those made from mud ponds and humus soil. The former generally needs watering every day, and the latter once every two or three days, depending on the actual situation.
