This flower has a magical power that is close to magic. It is said that if you put a Forsythia flower under your pillow when you sleep, you will dream about the appearance of your future partner. This is not an evil witchcraft, but a beautiful magic.

Myths and legends of Forsythia

On Qibo Mountain in Xinmi City, Henan Province, there is a place called Chenchengou to the east of Qibo’s tomb. Forsythia is found everywhere in the ditch. It is not only a precious Chinese medicinal material, but also an ornamental landscape tree. Its leaves are a long-standing famous tea ingredient, and its fruit is an excellent product for clearing away heat and detoxifying. Speaking of Forsythia, there is a little-known story.

According to legend, five thousand years ago, Qi Bo collected and planted herbs here, and he had a granddaughter named Lian Qiao.

One day, when Qi Bo and his granddaughter Lian Qiao were collecting herbs in the mountains, Qi Bo tasted and tested a medicine himself and unfortunately became poisoned. He foamed at the mouth, became unconscious, and his eyes were staring straight ahead.

When his condition was very serious, he kept shouting: Lianqiao, Lianqiao. Seeing that grandpa was seriously poisoned and in danger of his life, Lianqiao hugged grandpa with tears streaming down her face and cried: Help! Help!

Lian Qiao shouted for a long time but no one answered. Although she had no way to rescue her grandfather, she couldn't bear to see him leave. In desperation, she quickly picked up a handful of green leaves around her, crushed them in her hands and stuffed them into her grandfather's mouth.

After a while, Qi Bo slowly woke up and swallowed the green leaves. Two moments later, Qi Bo's face and tongue were back to normal. Lian Qiao helped his grandfather back home, and after taking medicine and taking some food, Qi Bo gradually recovered.

After that, Qi Bo began to study this green leaf. After many experiments, he found that this green leaf had a good effect of clearing away heat and detoxifying, and the effect was very good. So he recorded this green leaf in his Chinese medicine catalog, named it Forsythia suspensa, named after his granddaughter, and planted many Forsythia suspensa in the Minister Valley where he lived. This story has been passed down to this day.
