Cultivation methods and precautions of calla lily

Cultivation methods and precautions of calla lily

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature

It can generally grow and develop better in an environment above 20 degrees. If the temperature is too low, it will easily go into a dormant state and stop growing, which will affect its growth and development. Therefore, in winter, the calla lily must be moved to a warm place indoors.

2. Topdressing

This is a fertilizer-loving plant, so you can add thin fertilizer every month to promote its growth and development.

3. Watering

Calla lilies need more water in summer than in other days, so you must water them more often, but don't be too greedy. Just keep the soil slightly moist. There must not be water accumulation in the pot, otherwise it will easily cause the roots of the calla lilies to rot. Calla lilies will go dormant in winter, so be sure to water them less and stop fertilizing.

4. Sunlight

Calla lily is a shade-loving plant, so never expose it to direct sunlight, otherwise its leaves will be sunburned.

2. Breeding precautions

1. Summer breeding attention

Because calla lilies grow very fast in summer, they need slightly more nutrients at this time than in other seasons. Generally, decomposed fertilizer or nitrogen-containing compound fertilizer should be applied to the calla lily once every half a month. If fertilization is not timely, it will easily cause incomplete development of the stem of the calla lily, and easily cause the fat green leaves to turn yellow or wither, affecting the overall beauty of the calla lily. In severe cases, the flowers may not bloom.

2. Notes on breeding in winter

Since calla lilies prefer a warm and humid environment, the cold outdoors in winter is not suitable for their growth, so they need to be transplanted indoors or in a greenhouse. Although calla lilies do not like sunlight, they still need 4 hours of light every day in winter, so that their morphology can develop better. However, there is no need to fertilize it in winter, because the calla lily is generally in a dormant period in winter. Stopping fertilization at this time is conducive to its dormancy and will not burn the roots.
