Planting methods and precautions for comfrey

one. How to plant seeds

1This plant usually chooses to bear fruit in autumn. When its fruits are ripe, they will begin to crack. We can collect the fruits when its branches have not fallen off but are fully ripe, rub the fruits with our hands until the seeds come out. At this time, we can remove impurities and wash the remaining substances outside the seeds with water.

2 Prepare the seedbed for growing seeds, dig shallow furrows with a rake, and then sow the seeds using row sowing. After sowing, the seeds need to be covered with a layer of soil 1 to 1.5 cm thick.

3 This plant prefers a relatively warm and humid environment, and likes to grow in shady places. This plant can be planted and cultivated beside rivers, ponds, ditches, streams, as well as in shallow water or low-lying areas.

4 It should be noted that the seeds need relatively low temperatures to germinate. At a temperature of 7.6 to 12.4 degrees and with sufficient light, sprouts will grow in about 34 days. The germination rate of seeds is about 72%.

5 During the growth period, we need to pay attention to the moisture of the soil, pay attention to watering, maintain the humidity of the soil and remove weeds frequently to prevent weeds from taking away the water, nutrients and sunlight needed for the growth of the seedlings.

two. How to plant cuttings

1 This plant can also be transplanted by seedling raising. Generally, we can choose the germination season in February, select healthy and disease-free branches, and cut them into branches about 20 to 25 cm long. The requirement is that each branch must have more than 3 nodes, and the uppermost bud node and the lowermost bud node must be 1 to 1.5 cm away from the wound.

2 It's time to prepare the seedbed. Dig a bed more than 3 meters wide, and then dig horizontal trenches with a spacing of 26 cm between each row, about 16 to 20 cm deep. Each trench can hold 15 to 20 cuttings, and the top buds of the cuttings should be exposed to the ground. Then you can cover half of the trench with soil, press it tightly, and then cover it with a layer of fine soil until it is level with the surface of the bed.

three. Precautions

1 If you are sowing seeds, pay attention to the temperature required for germination and pay attention to watering.
