Tips for high-yield grape planting

Tips for high-yield grape planting

Grapes have strong adaptability and can withstand temperatures as low as -17°C. It requires sufficient light, and the average sunshine hours during the growth period must be more than 6 hours. The water requirement is relatively loose and it can be grown in areas with annual rainfall of 400 mm to 1000 mm. The most suitable soil has higher humidity and lower air humidity, with a pH value between 6.5 and 7.5. Sandy loam with deep soil layer, low groundwater level, good air permeability and strong water and fertilizer retention capacity is the most ideal. Learn a few tips for high-yield grape growing below.

1. Choose the right variety

Based on local ecological conditions and market demand, comprehensive consideration of economic benefits and careful selection of planting varieties are made.

2. Cultivate strong seedlings

Grape propagation methods include cuttings, layering, active propagation and tissue culture, with cuttings being the most commonly used method. After intensive cultivation of strong seedlings, they are transplanted into the orchard . The cutting time should start when the soil temperature is stable at above 10℃.

3. High-standard garden construction

When building a vineyard, you need to dig a large hole and apply enough base fertilizer to ensure that the planting pit is large and deep. Generally, the depth is required to be about 70 cm and the diameter is about 100 cm. Apply enough decomposed farmyard manure before planting.

4. Stand

Erecting a vineyard frame is a necessary task. Cement stakes are usually used. When the plant spacing is 2 meters, a cement stake is planted between two plants, and then four No. 8 iron wires are pulled. The first wire is 40 cm from the ground, and each subsequent wire is 30 to 35 cm apart.

5. Fertilizer and water management

Grapes have different demands for fertilizers at different growth stages. Fertilization throughout the year is divided into base fertilizer and top dressing. Base fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer , and top dressing is applied multiple times according to the growth stage of the grapes.

6. Cultivate a good tree shape

Grapes are vine fruit trees with a variety of tree shapes, such as multi-main vine fan shape, double-layer double-arm main vine shape, etc. Multi-main vine fan shape is usually used for pruning.

7. Pay attention to pruning

Grape pruning is divided into winter pruning and summer pruning. Winter pruning is carried out after leaf fall and before the end of the year, while summer pruning is carried out during the growing season to ensure the normal development of the bunches and control the nutritional growth of the year.

8. Strengthen pest and disease control

The main diseases of grapes are black pox, downy mildew and powdery mildew, and the main pest is grape flower borer. Prevention and control methods include removing diseased plants, spraying pesticides, and strengthening cultivation management.

In short, through the above-mentioned tips for high-yield grape cultivation, you can effectively improve the yield and quality of grapes and achieve high-quality and high-yield grape cultivation.
