How does the root of desert rose expand?

1. Increase lighting

The growth of desert rose cannot be separated from sufficient light. Insufficient light will weaken the plant and make its roots smaller. If you want it to swell, you must ensure that it receives at least 6 hours of light every day. However, the plants in the seedling stage cannot be exposed to direct sunlight and need to be properly shaded to avoid being burned by direct sunlight.

2. Reasonable fertilization

Desert rose itself grows in barren areas, so its fertilizer requirements are not very high. However, insufficient nutrition will cause its roots to be thin, and proper fertilization is needed to improve this situation. Generally, smaller plants need nitrogen fertilizer during the growth period to promote their development. If it is a mature plant, you can apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to make the roots swell.

3. Reduce watering

The roots of the desert rose are actually a water storage place. As a succulent plant, it does not require much water. If you water too much, it will affect the water storage function of the roots, causing the loss of water and nutrients and causing them to shrivele. Wait until the soil is completely dry before watering, and water thoroughly at once, but do not allow water to accumulate.

4. Timely pruning

If the desert rose grows too tall, its demand for nutrients will be very high, and the roots will not be able to store nutrients, so it will naturally shrivel. It needs to be pruned in time to cut off the branches that are too long and too dense. After new branches grow, they should be pinched to control the height of the plant.
