Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of jade tree

Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of jade tree

1. Inappropriate light exposure

Reason: Jade plant has relatively high requirements for light. The light in its growing environment cannot be too strong or too weak. If the light is too strong, the water in the leaves will evaporate excessively, causing the leaves to wilt and turn yellow. If the light is too weak, photosynthesis will be reduced, making it difficult for chlorophyll to form and the leaves will turn yellow.

Measures: It is necessary to determine whether the problem is caused by excessive light or insufficient light. Then adjust its position and keep it in a semi-shaded place with scattered light. Keep the light at a suitable level, not too dim, nor too bright. At the same time, make sure every part is exposed to light.

2. Overwatering

Reason: Jade plant is afraid of waterlogging. Once it is watered too much and exceeds the range it can absorb, water will accumulate in the potting soil. As a result, the roots will gradually rot, the nutrients in the potting soil will be difficult to absorb, and the problem of yellowing leaves will slowly appear.

Measures: Stop watering for a while, loosen the soil, place it in a well-ventilated place, and let the moisture in the soil dry. But if the situation is more serious, you need to remove it from the pot, cut off some rotten roots, and replant it.

3. The pot soil is not suitable

Reason: As the jade plant grows, you need to change the pot and soil in time. If you don’t change the pot and soil for one or two years, the nutrients in the soil will be reduced a lot, and the pot will not be suitable for the continued growth of the grown jade plant. This way, there is not enough space for growth and the soil lacks nutrients, so various problems will arise in its growth and its leaves will turn yellow.

Measures: Change the pot and soil in time to ensure that the plant has enough space and soil that meets its growth conditions, and prune its branches and leaves regularly. With normal maintenance, the soil and larger pots should be replaced every spring.

4. Pest Problems

Reason: Jade plant is a succulent plant and is more susceptible to pests, such as red spider mites. When jade plants are infected with red spider mites, yellow spots will appear on the leaves and then gradually expand in scope.

Measures: When plants are found to be infected by red spider mites, they should be sprayed with drugs for treatment in time. In addition, to avoid insect eggs in the soil, it is necessary to change the soil and replant, and increase ventilation.
