How to grow peony

How to grow peony

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: When growing peonies, you need to use loose and fertile acidic soil. Do not choose alkaline soil, which is not conducive to its growth and may also cause yellow leaves.

2. Watering: It is a drought-resistant plant and does not need frequent watering. It only needs some watering when the weather is dry or the temperature is high. Do not water too much. Occasional rain is also acceptable.

3. Light: During the cultivation process, ensure sufficient sunlight. If the sunlight is too strong, take appropriate shading measures to prevent the leaves from being burned by strong light.

4. Fertilization: Fertilize three times a year. Apply base fertilizer once when potting, apply high-phosphorus fertilizer once a week after flowering, and add fertilizer once in autumn and winter.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Root cutting propagation: When dividing the plant, cut off 5-10 cm of roots, insert them into a deep and leveled ditch, cover with a layer of rare soil, and then water them thoroughly.

2. Layering propagation: Pass the tender buds through the holes in the pot and introduce them into the flowerpot. Continue to fill the soil as it grows. At the same time, make sure the soil is moist. It will take root soon. Just cut off the stems under the pot before winter.

3. Common pests and diseases

Common diseases and pests include anthracnose, root rot, red spider mites, beetles, etc. Diseases and pests must be prevented early, and after diseases and pests occur, pesticides should be sprayed according to the severity of the disease.
