How to make gardenia bloom more

How to make gardenia bloom more

1. Fertilize before flowering

Gardenia needs nutritional support when it blooms. If it does not have enough nutrition, it will be difficult for it to bloom. Even if it blooms in time, the flowers it blooms will be relatively small, weak, and not very ornamental. So if you want it to bloom more, you need to give it adequate nutrition. Specifically, it needs some fertilizer before flowering, preferably phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, because they can promote the plant to bloom better than nitrogen fertilizers. The most recommended fertilizer is potassium dihydrogen phosphate, which is not only nutritionally comprehensive but also easy to apply.

2. Ensure lighting

Light is also one of the necessary conditions for gardenia to bloom. Without sufficient light, it is difficult for it to bloom in large numbers. Therefore, during the growing period, the plant needs to be placed in a place with sufficient light to ensure adequate light conditions. However, once it blooms, it needs proper shade.

3. Ensure moisture

Gardenia also needs water to grow. It is a moisture-loving flower species, and it is important to ensure that it has sufficient water during the growing period, otherwise it will be difficult for it to grow, let alone bloom. Specifically, during the growing season, you need to pay more attention to the dryness and wetness of the soil. Once it starts to dry out, you need to add water in time.

4. Acidification of soil

If you have done all of the above and it still fails to produce a large number of flowers, then it is most likely a problem with the soil. Because it prefers slightly acidic soil conditions, it will grow poorly in alkaline soil. If this is the case, you can add a few drops of salt-free vinegar to the water when watering, and after a period of time the soil will become slightly acidic.
