How to propagate Dieffenbachia

How to propagate Dieffenbachia

1. Water insertion method

This breeding method is relatively simple and has no seasonal restrictions. Cut off healthy and large branches and leaves from the evergreen, about ten centimeters in length, and then insert them into disinfected water. After insertion, there is no need for sunlight. Change the water once a week. It will take root in about two months. After rooting, you can transplant it into a potted plant.

2. Soil Insertion Method

This method is more efficient. The first step is the same as the first step of the water insertion method. First, cut healthy branches and leaves about ten centimeters long, and then insert them into the soil base. The soil base needs to meet these conditions: sufficient moisture and nutrients, good air permeability, and good drainage ability. After planting, water it lightly, avoid direct sunlight, and water it thoroughly again two days later. Wait for it to take root before transplanting it into a pot.

3. Seeding method

There is no definite time for the sowing method. Its fruits mature around December and can be collected and sown at the same time when they are ripe. Sow the seeds in a culture medium that is half leaf mold and half fine sand, then water the culture medium until it is thoroughly watered. Then cover the entire culture medium with a film to provide a moist and high-temperature growth environment for the seeds to germinate, and wait for them to germinate. After germination, don't rush to remove the film. When the weather is hot, you can tear a corner to allow the seedlings to breathe. Wait until it grows to about four centimeters and then you can transplant it.
