How to Plant Chestnut Trees

How to Plant Chestnut Trees

1. Planting environment

1. Soil: When planting chestnut trees, you should use loose soil with good drainage. Using too sticky soil will affect its growth to a certain extent and cause root rot.

2. Watering: A lot of water will be lost after harvesting, and it is very easy to be affected by drought in the autumn and winter seasons, so it is necessary to water it in time to ensure it has the required water.

3. Light: Chestnut trees need sufficient light during their growth period to promote photosynthesis. If they do not receive enough light, their yield will be affected.

4. Temperature: Provide it with a growing environment of 10-20℃. If the temperature is too low in winter, it will suffer from frost damage. The temperature should not be too high in summer, otherwise it will easily cause poor growth.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Seeding propagation: Seeding is generally carried out in March and April. Before sowing, the seeds must be sterilized with methyl thiophanate solution, suitable soil must be prepared, and the seeds can be sown.

2. Grafting propagation: Grafting is generally best carried out from August to October. Cleft grafting should be done 20 days before germination. After the new shoots unfold their leaves and the infusion flows, grafting should be done about 20 days after the new shoots sprout. After grafting, it is best to tie it tightly with plastic film to reduce water evaporation.
