How to open a durian

How to open a durian

1. Pry along the crack

Ripe durian usually has cracks, which makes it much easier to open. Use a fruit knife to slowly pry it open along the crack, and then make a circle along the skin to break it open.

2. Lift the fruit stem and knock it open

If a durian has cracks, you can also carefully lift the fruit stalk, point the tail side toward the ground, and bang it against the ground. It will also open easily. However, it cannot be kept for too long and must be eaten as soon as possible.

3. Cut from the tail

Not all durians have cracks. If there are no cracks, you can use a fruit knife to cut a part of the tail. After cutting, you can see the lines on it. Insert the knife into the intersection of the lines and cut along the lines.
