1. Plants

Basil is a plant that can be used as both medicine and food, and its taste is very similar to fennel. The plant is very small, with emerald green leaves, brightly colored flowers and a strong fragrance. It is about 20 to 80 cm tall.

2. Leaves

The leaves of basil are oval or oval-oblong, about 2.5 to 5 cm long and 1 to 2.5 cm wide, with a slightly obtuse or sharply tapering apex, a gradually narrowing base, an irregularly serrated edge or nearly entire, and a petiole about 1.5 cm long.

3. Flowers

Basil's flowers are in racemes, terminal on stems and branches, each evenly covered with fine hairs, usually about 10 to 20 cm long, composed of mostly decussate cymes with 6 flowers, calyx is bell-shaped, about 4 mm long, corolla is lavender or white on the upper lip and purple-red on the lower lip.
