If you don't do this in autumn, the Clivia will grow wildly and become uglier and uglier!

If you don't do this in autumn, the Clivia will grow wildly and become uglier and uglier!

Clip a small piece of paper and the Clivia will form a line

The leaves of many Clivias in the garden of many flower lovers always grow unevenly, and they become more and more messy as they grow. Except for those varieties that grow unevenly by themselves, we can still prevent and correct them~

1. Placement method

The leaves of Clivia have a strong tendency to attract light. If the leaves on both sides of the potted plant receive uneven light, the plant will inevitably tilt toward the side with better light.

Therefore, when placing the plant, the leaves should be placed perpendicular to the light and the pot should be rotated 180° every half a month, otherwise the left and right sides will grow asymmetrically.

2. Human intervention

For the growing leaves, we can use the method of paper shading to adjust them. Of course, the best material is the tin foil commonly used in the kitchen~

Cut the tin foil into a suitable width, fold it in half to wrap the longer side of the leaf, and just wrap half the width of the leaf. Secure it with a paper clip, check the effect every day, and be careful not to over-correct.

Huahua only recommends using this method of using paper to block light to adjust growing leaves. For old leaves, flower-growing experts can force corrections.

Do this in autumn and you won’t have “arrows” in winter

What is "clip arrow"?

It means that when the flower arrows of Clivia are growing, the flower stems are too short and the flowers cannot grow out of the leaves before blooming, which greatly reduces the ornamental effect of Clivia.

Cause:

When the flower arrows of Clivia grow, the ambient temperature is lower than 15℃.

Lack of water and fertilizer causes poor growth of flower stems in Clivia.

How to prevent:

1. If we want the Clivia to bloom, we should give it appropriate low temperatures in the autumn. It is best to maintain it between 5℃~10℃, as long as the temperature is low enough so that it will not be damaged by frost. That is to say, we should enter the room later.

After moving indoors, increase the temperature difference between day and night, and keep the temperature at around 20℃ after the arrows are shot. Once you find that there is a possibility of arrow jamming, raise the temperature immediately.

2. Before bringing the plant indoors, when the temperature is low, we should water it at longer intervals. After moving it into a warm room, we can water it more often, especially after the arrows emerge, to ensure adequate water supply.

3. Apply more liquid fertilizer to prevent the plants from getting arrows stuck. In autumn, you should apply fertilizers mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium to promote the flowering of Clivia. Huahua uses the liquid fertilizer that promotes flowering sold in Huahua Youxuan Mall.

4. The last trick is, once you find that the Clivia has an arrow, you should put it in a small dark room to promote the flower arrow to grow upwards.
