How to raise azalea in autumn

How to raise azalea in autumn

1. Control watering

Moderate watering in autumn can help the root growth of azalea, and also allow the plant to store some water to prepare for wintering and prevent its bark from becoming chrysanthemum-like. Specifically, in September, you can water the plants 1-2 times a day to keep the soil slightly dry. In October, you can reduce the frequency of watering to once a day or once every two days.

2. Trimming and shaping

Autumn is the best time to trim and shape it. You can first cut off the weak and poorly growing branches on the plant, and then cut off all the extra branches, leaving the main branches to maintain a suitable plant shape. In addition, for some branches that grow in a messy way, you can fix them by tying them with wire to change their growth direction.

3. Increase fertilization

In autumn, you can clearly see new shoots growing, and some varieties even have flower buds on the plants. Therefore, at this time, you need to apply more flower fertilizer to allow the plant to accumulate nutrients to supply the growth of new shoots and the opening of flower buds.

4. Uniform lighting

Because flower buds and flower buds will grow on the plant at this time, it is best to rotate the flower pot regularly to allow the plant to receive more even light. This can prevent the uneven growth of flower buds and flower buds, with one side having more lush branches and more flowers, while the other side has more sparse branches and fewer flowers.
