Can hollyhock be potted?

Hollyhock can be planted in pots. Hollyhock prefers an environment with plenty of sunlight and can tolerate partial shade. The suitable temperature is 25-30 degrees Celsius. If this temperature can be reached, it can survive whether planted in the ground or in pots.

If hollyhock is planted in the ground, it may grow to two meters. If it is potted, it depends on the size of the pot. A general pot can grow to 40cm. A larger pot will be taller. If it is properly cultivated, it will bloom in the same year.

Hollyhock potted cultivation method

1. Soil preparation

Hollyhock is not very picky about the soil. The most suitable soil for potted hollyhock is loose, fertile, well-drained, and sandy soil rich in organic matter.

2. Pruning

Due to the strong sunlight in summer, hollyhocks should be kept away from direct sunlight as much as possible. When the hollyhocks bloom, cut off the above-ground parts in time so that new buds can sprout.

3. Watering

Hollyhock is afraid of waterlogging, so pay attention to watering and keep the soil moist, but do not water too much to cause waterlogging. In addition, proper watering during the hollyhock's growth period can extend the flowering period and increase the number of flowers.

4. Fertilization

Apply liquid fertilizer mainly composed of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer once or twice during the growth period of hollyhock. Apply liquid fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer once or twice after the flower buds are formed.

5. Growth habits

Hollyhock prefers an environment with plenty of sunlight and can tolerate partial shade. The suitable temperature for hollyhock growth is 25-30 degrees Celsius, and the most suitable temperature for flowering is between 25-28 degrees Celsius. If the average monthly temperature is lower than 15 degrees Celsius, it will affect flowering.
