Cultivation methods and precautions of Anthurium

Cultivation methods and precautions of Anthurium

1. Soil

It is recommended to use loose, fertile, well-drained high-quality loam as the potting soil.

2. Lighting

It needs shade in the summer, and appropriate shade in the spring and autumn. After October, it can be placed directly in the sun if conditions permit.

3. Temperature

It likes a warm climate, with a suitable temperature of 18-30℃. It will stop growing when the temperature is below 14℃, and a long period of time below 10℃ will cause the plant to die.

4. Watering

Water once every 3 days in spring and autumn; once every 2 days in summer. When the temperature is high at noon, you can spray the leaves appropriately to increase humidity and reduce temperature; water once every 3-5 days in winter. When the temperature is low, it is recommended to supply water between 9:00 and 16:00.

5. Fertilization

The amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be increased during the peak growing season; phosphorus fertilizer and potassium fertilizer should be increased in late autumn and early winter to help the plants resist drought; less fertilizer and less watering should be applied in winter.

6. Notes

Anthurium can be propagated by four methods: division, cutting, sowing and tissue culture. It is recommended to divide the plants in spring and autumn. Be careful not to damage the mother plant when dividing. You can water and fertilize appropriately two days after planting. When cutting, cut 1-2 stem nodes with 3-4 leaves, insert them into water, and then put them into pots after new roots grow. The suitable temperature for sowing is 25℃-28℃, and it will germinate 20-25 days after sowing.
