The fruit of the olive tree of the Oleaceae family. Also known as olive, green fruit, green olive, and sweet olive. The fruits are harvested in autumn when they are full but not fully ripe, washed and used fresh, or dried in the sun, or soaked in salt water and then dried. It tastes sweet and sour, and is neutral in nature. It can clear the lungs and relieve sore throat, promote salivation and detoxify.

Olive trees are tall. When the fruits are about to ripen, they are nailed to the tree with wooden nails and a little salt is put into the bark. The fruits will fall off once they are ripe. Olives are best eaten raw, but can also be pickled with honey or salt and shipped to distant places. Olive branches are like black glue, and have a strong smell when grilled, which is called oleifera.

Lanzhixiang olives are rich in nutrients, containing 17 kinds of amino acids needed by the human body. The flesh is rich in calcium and vitamin C. The flesh is fine and has a good taste. It is mainly used as a medicinal, health-care and fresh food. Ordinary olive fruits are relatively crude and are often processed into: flattened olives, big lucky olives, ten-spice olives, peeled olives, salted olives, rose olives, etc.

The fruit can be eaten raw or pickled; it is used medicinally to treat laryngitis, hemoptysis, thirst, enteritis and diarrhea. The kernels are used for carving and also as medicine, and are effective in treating fish bones stuck in the throat.

The seeds are edible and can also be used to extract oil, which is used to make soap or as lubricant. According to "Lingbiao Luyi": resin and sugar are called olive sugar, used to fill damaged boats. After drying, it is stronger than glue and paint, and becomes even drier and harder when exposed to water. According to the "Qunfangpu": the resin "is very hot and strong, and is called elemi."

Function: ornamental

The tree crown is tall and green, and the back of the leaves are covered with white scales. Under the sunlight, the silver and green complement each other, looking graceful and charming. Olives have panicles, each inflorescence bears 10 to 20 small golden flowers with a refreshing fragrance.

Function: Street tree + wood

Olive trees are good windbreak species and street trees. The wood can be used to build ships and as sleepers. Making furniture, farm tools and building materials, etc.
