How to grow Nepenthes in autumn

How to grow Nepenthes in autumn

1. Suitable temperature

Nepenthes particularly likes high temperature environments. Specifically, 20 to 30 degrees Celsius is most suitable. Therefore, pitcher plants grown in the north generally do not grow well unless attention is paid to adjusting the temperature. You don’t need to pay too much attention to it in early autumn, but you need to adjust it in late autumn (especially in the north). If the conditions are not met, the standard can be lowered appropriately, but it must be at least ten degrees.

2. Suitable lighting

Nepenthes itself prefers light, but is afraid of too strong light. Therefore, avoid too strong light at the beginning of autumn. You can use some tools such as shading nets. However, given that pitcher plants like light, sufficient light must be provided when the temperature drops in the later stage. This is beneficial to its growth and also allows it to accumulate nutrients.

3. Adequate water

Nepenthes requires a lot of water. If the temperature can reach 30 degrees in early autumn, it should be watered two to three times a day. As the temperature drops, the amount of watering can be gradually reduced, but the soil should still be kept in a suitably moist state.

4. Appropriate amount of fertilizer

In the fall, it needs fertilizer, but not much. There are no strict requirements on the type of fertilizer. You can use organic fertilizer or chemical fertilizer. Don't use it too often, the concentration shouldn't be too high, and the amount shouldn't be too large. Moreover, it is important to water the plants in time after each fertilization.
