How to grow rosemary more vigorously

Rosemary Growing Conditions

Rosemary prefers a warm, sunny environment and is not resistant to strong sunlight. The maintenance temperature must not be lower than 0 degrees. It cannot overwinter outdoors in northern regions. It is not demanding on the soil, but is suitable for planting in well-drained, sandy soil.

How to grow rosemary

Rosemary naturally likes sunlight and has a strong ability to tolerate drought. It needs to be watered in moderation and no water accumulation should occur. It is suitable for sandy and well-drained soil. It does not require much fertilizer, but has poor cold resistance, which can reach minus 5 degrees Celsius at most, so safety and heating measures must be taken.

Watering Rosemary

Rosemary has a certain degree of drought resistance, but it still needs timely replenishment of water. In the hot summer, you can water it in the morning and evening, but not at noon. In other seasons, you can water it once every 4-7 days. Generally, you need to water it when the soil is dry and white.

Fertilizing Rosemary

Rosemary does not require much fertilizer. Two or three times a year is enough. You can apply a small amount of decomposed organic fertilizer. Too much fertilizer will not only not help its growth, but also cause root rot. Just spread it in the soil along the edge of the pot.

Rosemary Pest and Disease Control

Rosemary often suffers from root rot. You can use mancozeb to irrigate the root zone. If gray mold occurs, you need to trim the diseased leaves and burn them in a concentrated area. Spray mancozeb for protection before the disease occurs. Spray carbendazim, thiophanate-methyl or chlorothalonil in the early stage of the disease. If powdery mildew occurs, you need to clean up the fallen leaves and burn them, and spray oxycarboxin, copper thiophanate-methyl, alum, and methyl thiophanate-methyl.

How to grow rosemary at home

1. We need to choose a suitable flowerpot according to the size of the rosemary, so that it is not easy to wither or be too wet. At the same time, we must choose a good soil. Rosemary likes yellow soil, which is also very helpful for rosemary rooting. If you use garden soil or humus soil directly, it will not be good for rooting.

2. When potting rosemary, you need to compact the soil so that the roots of the seedlings will have better air permeability. After potting, you also need to water it appropriately to ensure that the soil is slightly moist. When watering, wait until the soil is dry before watering.

3. After rosemary is potted, it needs to be well cared for. It can be placed in a sunny location, such as a balcony or window, but rosemary cannot withstand excessive exposure to the sun or large amounts of water. When watering, wait until the soil is dry before watering. At the same time, we must also prune frequently, which can slow down nutrient consumption and allow rosemary to grow more vigorously.

Rosemary care precautions

Do not water rosemary too much. Water is consumed faster in summer, so watering should be done more often. However, do not apply too much water to avoid wilting of the plant and poor growth. In addition, during the flowering period, an appropriate amount of fertilizer is needed. Chemical fertilizers should not be used at this time, as using chemical fertilizers can easily cause seedling burn.
