How to repot asparagus fern

How to repot asparagus fern

How to operate

There are generally two ways to repot asparagus fern, and the time required for these two methods is different.

Changing the soil, repotting, and dividing asparagus fern

The first one is to change the soil, repot, or even divide the asparagus fern. This repotting needs to be done in the spring every year. It should be noted that the time for repotting should be around the evening of a sunny day or on a cloudy day, so that it is easier for the seedlings to survive.

The soil for repotting should be spread out and broken up and exposed to the sun before use.

Small pot to big pot

Do not process the original soil, but keep the original soil and add soil directly to the large pot. This method of repotting can be done all year round. Usually observe the bottom of the plant's pot. When a small amount of roots are exposed from the bottom of the pot, it is time to change the pot.

However, when repotting, you should pay attention to keep more soil on the roots. Transplanting with soil requires less time for the seedlings to acclimate than transplanting with bare roots. After repotting, place it in a cool, ventilated place for a few days before managing it normally.

Precautions

The specific method of changing the pot has been explained in detail, and you also need to pay attention to:

Since you lack experience in repotting for the first time, try not to remove all the soil from the roots as this is risky. When repotting, keep the old soil appropriately without damaging the root system. In theory, the more old soil there is, the greater the success rate of repotting.

When replacing a small pot with a large one, you can change the pot when you observe that the roots of the plant are exposed at the bottom or the ratio of the pot to the plant is 1:3. Try to choose a slightly larger flower pot to avoid frequent repotting.

After the plant is repotted, it needs a period of acclimatization. Keep the plant in a cool place for 1 to 2 weeks and control water appropriately.
