What are the cultivation methods and precautions of lantern flowers

Lantern flower cultivation method

Lantern flower likes a cool and humid environment, is not resistant to direct sunlight, is afraid of high temperatures, and is not resistant to waterlogging. It is suitable for planting in fertile, loose, humus-rich, well-drained slightly acidic soil. The winter temperature needs to be above 5 degrees.

Watering method

Lantern flower likes a moist soil environment. You can water it frequently in spring and spray it with an appropriate amount of water, but there should be no accumulation of water. In summer, it should be kept in a semi-shaded environment. Frequently spray water on the surface of the leaves or sprinkle water on the ground. In winter, control watering to prevent the soil in the pot from being too wet.

Fertilization method

Lantern flowers grow fast and bloom many times, so they have a greater demand for fertilizer, so apply thin fertilizers frequently. Apply thin cake fertilizer or compound fertilizer once every 10 days. Do not water before fertilizing, keep it relatively dry. After fertilizing, spray some water to prevent the leaves from sticking to the fertilizer and rotting.

Pruning methods

The pruning techniques of lantern flowers are different at different times. During the seedling stage, you can cut off the top of the trunk, trim the overlapping branches, and shorten the long branches. During the flowering period, pinch the tops in time and trim the overly long and dense branches and leaves to avoid nutrient consumption. After flowering, trim the remaining flowers, remove the old leaves, and move them to a dark place.

Lantern flower cultivation precautions

Pay attention to the maintenance of the lantern flower in summer. You can spray water on the leaves and around the flowerpot in the morning and evening. If the temperature is high at noon, do not spray water on the leaves. During the rainy season in the south, it needs to be placed indoors to prevent the roots from rotting and dying.
