Should I use a large or small pot to grow Dendrobium?

Should I use a large or small pot for Dendrobium?

Dendrobium is not very big, so it can be planted in a small pot that can just hold the plant. Be careful not to plant small seedlings in a large pot, nor to plant large flowers in a small pot. If the pot is too large, water will accumulate, affecting the breathing of the plant roots.

Growth environment: The most suitable growth temperature for Dendrobium is 20-30℃. It prefers a warm, humid, semi-shady growth environment and requires air humidity greater than 80%. Fertilizer should be applied once a week during the growth period.

Repotting time: Dendrobium needs to be repotted every 2-3 years, usually in spring and autumn, when the impact on the plant is minimal. Note that no fertilizer should be applied within three months of repotting.

Should Dendrobium be planted in a deep or shallow pot?

The root system of the plant Dendrobium is not very developed, so it is usually planted in a shallow pot, which is more suitable for the growth of the plant. If the pot is too deep, it will affect the breathing of the plant roots and cause its growth to slow down.

The most suitable flowerpot for Dendrobium is a plain ceramic pot, and the mouth of the pot should be large and have holes around the bottom. This can ensure the air permeability and drainage of the pot, which is more conducive to the growth of the plant.

How to repot Dendrobium

When repotting Dendrobium, you must first prepare a larger flowerpot. The new soil can be prepared by mixing moss, sawdust, and pine soil. Do not damage the roots when removing from the pot. After planting in the new soil, water it thoroughly once and then place it in a cool and ventilated environment for maintenance.
