Passion fruit is generally distributed in areas between 180 and 1900 meters. It is commonly found in valley jungles. It was originally distributed in the Antilles. It is widely planted in tropical and subtropical regions and is cultivated in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Fujian, Yunnan, and Taiwan.

Passion Fruit Growing Conditions

Passion fruit is a tropical fruit that prefers an environment with plenty of sunlight. It has the best quality in areas with 2,300 to 2,800 hours of sunshine per year and can be harvested early. Passion fruit has strong adaptability to soil, but prefers fertile, loose, well-drained soil with a soil pH of 5.5 to 6.5.

Passion fruit growth temperature

Passion fruit prefers a warm environment, and the suitable growth temperature is between 20-30 degrees. It generally grows well above 0 degrees. When the temperature is below minus 2 degrees, the plant will be seriously damaged or even die. Areas with an annual average temperature above 18 degrees are most suitable for planting. It is widely distributed in Hainan, China.

Passion fruit growth process

Passion fruit is highly adaptable and easy to grow. It can be sown all year round, but the best planting time is March to May in spring and September to October in autumn. The time for planting passion fruit seedlings should be chosen on a sunny day after rain or on a cloudy day.

The growth process of passion fruit goes through four stages: young fruit stage (rapid growth period), first flesh weight increase period, second flesh weight increase period, and color change and maturity period.
